Gomà-Camps was awarded the prize for water efficiency, a prize sponsored by Nalco Water. Jordi Gomà-Camps Travé, Head of the Operating Unit at Gomà-Camps, picked up the award during the delivery ceremony.
The award recognizes the work done by Gomà-Camps to execute different projects and investments to clearly reduce the use of fresh water in the industrial process. Filtering and recirculation maximizes the reuse of fresh water from the Riba paper mill, water that feeds 2 of the 3 machines available to the Group.
This project is part of the company's policy of sustainability and respect for the environment, as it ensures less use of water that returns to river systems in a clean and clear way, thus taking care of the Brugent River in La Riba (Tarragona) , where the company has been headquartered for more than 260 years.
Our long-term vision of the improvement and reduction of water consumption through different actions has made possible a reduction of consumption by 40% during the last 5 years (from 9l / kg to 5l / kg), which puts us very much Below the reference in the European market. Currently, more than 50% of the water that is used is recirculated and poured into perfect conditions to the river after being used and purified.
The objective of the Group and the team of papermaking people in the Riba that has made these successes possible is to continue reducing water consumption and achieve direct effects on the care of our environment. Thank you team for making this award possible!
